Proposals for a configurable EMS viewer

My organisation has used to use sentinel.
Batch events and program output is put together in a collector, and viewed in a special program, Logread.

We are running in new machines and it was decided not to have logread.
now then we are seeing our mainly text based log as an EMS log in scanlog.
I am getting input that scanlog is not a very good viewer in this situation since much of the output format as fixed and unchanging since we are not using any tokens what so ever.

Does anyone know of a better SCANLOG replacement, perhaps with a customable view, we might employ to get a better result.

I am naturally aware that we might use EMS Tokens better to make more sense of the EMS log format. But I really am out hunting for a path with less resistance, to be honest.

I have heard of something called EMSPERUS but do not know where that might be gotten.

Any other suggestions ?

Are you looking for something more graphical, like an ECLIPSE viewer of EMS supporting NLS templates?

Randall, just something that would let us suppress parts of the output such that we are not only seeing log output on half the screen such that we do not have to show 4 lines to see 1 line of log output. so if it would be possible to cnfigure what parts of the EMS message we see, then it would be an improvement.

One of the cool parts of EMS is that it allows you to create your own templates. Start with the common ones. Make them one-liners with simple date/time. Use a specific collector with your custom templates. Piece of cake, really.

If you have installed a commercial monitoring tool on your system it is very likely that there is something available within that tool.
We are using 3 things:
Over the years we developed our own monitoring tool and checking for EMS events including counting them a one part of it. Unfortunately the management has decided, that the company is not going to bring the tool to market, because we would not be able to provide the necessary support.
The second thing is a pretty simple program running on a 6530-terminal in 132*54 blockmode displaying EMS-messages, a filter, a collector and up to 4 systems can be configured.
And the 3rd is a simple TACL-Macro allowing to start a Print-distributor with collector, output, filter, start and end times.
The program and the macro can be shared.

EMSPERUS comes with Base24. I am not sure if it's free, but you can ask ACI.

Hello.

Reflex from Insider Technologies has a graphical EMS event viewing module for Primary and Alternate Collectors. All tokens are displayed in their respective columns, full token detail, search history, filtering are all available via the graphical module.
