HP's ASAP Availability monitoring product just got more affordable.

At ITUG, a new Operations Bundle was announced.

I believe it includes ASAP, WebViewpoint and Pocket Viewpoint.

Prognosis is available. It was originaly developed for Tandem (HP
NonStop) systems and only recently (last few years) has it been made
available for other platforms.
It is probably the finest monitoring tool available.

We were tired of paying over 80,000/year for Prognosis. We finally got
smart and dumped them. We are now using Blackwood's MOMI product. We
are %100 satisfied with it, actually find it more useful than
Prognosis, and best of all it's really cheap. I think we paid
something like 5,000 up front, and some nominal yearly maintenance to
receive upgrades. We have been running it for almost two years now.
Sorry... I know you are looking for an HP product like ASAP, but
thought I would just give my two (maybe less) cents.

You bring up a good point here. This entire discussion should revolve around
what you need the tool to do.

If you could explain what kind of monitoring you need, we could supply much
better answers...

Gerhard,

If you're interested, I've developed a block-mode application which
will allow you to retrieve and display, screens of real-time, Measure
information (currently cpu, disc, process, tmf, line, diskfile and
user-defined counters, other counters to follow). The content of each
screen is completely user-configurable. My utility has been developed
for S-series. You're welcome to try it out for a few months
